Hollywood......the dreams of millions and the reality of few. Young couples go to Hollywood with stars in their eyes and come home with stars in their tears. If you want to be a great actor....you either go to Hollywood, New York or Washington.
I have always wondered how many great artist have left the lights behind because of excuses or reasons beyond their control. We have all heard the trash to treasure stories but we almost never hear the stories of people who decided at some point that fame wasn't for them.
I wrote a song back in the mid 1990s about a couple who were at the point of decision. A choice between love and fame. A young man tries to convince his sweetheart that Hollywood is just not all that. The song is about her and about the lure of Hollywood at the same time.
I tried to capture the emotion of them walking down Hollywood Boulevard, having a simple conversation about fame. Maybe doubt holds some people back or maybe they just decide they can't deal with the business monster. Either way...it takes tremendous heart to stay or leave.
Sometimes greatness...is just going home.

Very nice song T. Good voice too. Hollywood is a killer in many ways. I love that illustration at the end. Now she has legs!
Mae West was stunning in her youth!! "When I'm good, I'm very good and when I'm bad I'm Better!!"
Fame, in any arena is an illusion. The public is fickle. It's sad when the ones who die young, James Dean, Princess Grace, are so glorified and ageless. That's not my real life. I like my real life.
PS.. again, broken record.. but your music is fabamundo!
You have a nice voice.
That's good stuff. Hollywood is definitely not for everyone. It's like a wrote in my hub Lord of the Talents, being good at entertaining is just the first step. The master talent is selling it.
Really nice song. Thanks, Tom
This is very nice. "When I saw you up so close, that's when I, loved you the most..." Now that's a line I can take into my life.
nice song
Wow I love your voice and the song too!
Lovely song and great voice - and I think ralwus's legs are at least as smooth as that (if not as shapely) since he decided he's a lesbian ....
Another great song dad, keep puttin em on here
I just cannot get over how wonderful your songs are. Great voice, Tom!
Hey Tom: Great song. I love the play on the title, and I can certainly identify...I went the N.Y. route. Lot's of memories.
Look out Hollywood here I come but then again I would choose love I would just have to oh and by the way is that you singing you completely blow me away if I was a scout I would snap you up in a instant incredible :)
vdry nice hub Thnaks
love of one or the love of many, its a hard choice either way, you've got an amazing voice there. Great hub and nice play on words with the song title by the way.
Hey Tom, this is awesome. I love your voice, it seems as if it's oozing the emotions you try to convey.
One thing I might suggest is to re-upload the video in a higher resolution. Why? Well, you'd be able to stream your song in a higher quality, too.
The other wish I have for this would be to find a higher res of the picture. It's jagged on my screen...and while this doesn't negate such a great song or awesome story, I am such the perfectionist...anyway...thanks!
You are a talent I truly believe in.
No problem, if you need any clarification I may be able to help.
My process is a bit complicated for those new to the game, but it's basically mixing down in one format-->transcoding it to a YouTube friendly one, then uploading. Perhaps a Hub is due at some point...
